The short version
Bloomprint has no accounts and no user database. Your plants, reminders and diagnosis history never leave your phone. The only thing that leaves your device is the photograph you choose to analyse, and it is not kept after the analysis finishes.
What stays on your device
- Plants and mushrooms you save
- Care reminders
- Diagnosis history, including the photographs attached to it
- Your language preference
This is stored in the app's local storage. We cannot see it, we cannot recover it, and it is deleted when you delete the app. There is no backup and no sync between devices.
What is sent to our servers
Photographs you submit for identification or diagnosis. A photo is uploaded, forwarded to our AI provider (Anthropic) for analysis, and the result is returned to your device. The photo is deleted from our server once the analysis completes. We do not keep a copy and we do not use your photos to train any model.
The text you type into the expert chat, for the same purpose and with the same handling.
Your app language, so results come back in the right language.
Technical request data — your IP address, which every internet request carries — used only to apply rate limits and prevent abuse. The app sends no device identifier of its own, and the IP address is not linked to any profile because no profile exists.
How this data is collected
Only from what you do in the app, and only at the moment you do it. The camera and the photo library are read when you take or choose a picture to analyse; the chat text is what you type; the language is the one you set in the app. Nothing is gathered in the background and your use of the app is not tracked.
We ask before anything is sent
The first time you identify a plant or mushroom, run a diagnosis, ask the expert or use the plant finder, the app shows you a screen that names exactly what will be sent, who receives it, and what happens to it afterwards. Nothing leaves your device until you tap to agree. If you decline, the feature does not run and nothing is transmitted.
You can withdraw that permission at any time from Legal & privacy → AI data permission inside the app. After you withdraw it, you will be asked again the next time you use one of those features.
Processors we use
| Provider | Purpose | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic PBC (Claude AI), United States | AI identification and diagnosis | The photograph or message, and the language |
| Google AdMob | Advertising | Advertising identifier and standard ad request data |
Anthropic processes this data only to produce the result we ask for, on our instructions and under a data processing agreement. It is contractually required to protect the data to a standard equal to the one described in this policy, it does not retain it beyond the request, and it does not use it to train any model.
Advertising
Bloomprint is free and supported by advertising through Google AdMob. Ads may use an advertising identifier to limit repetition and measure performance.
On iOS you will be asked for permission before any tracking identifier is used. If you decline, you will still see ads; they will be less relevant.
In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom you will be shown a consent screen before personalised ads are used, and you can change your choice at any time from within the app.
Permissions we ask for
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Camera | To photograph a plant or mushroom for identification |
| Photo library | To identify a plant from a picture you already have |
| Notifications | To remind you to water and care for your plants |
We do not ask for your location. The app never requests location permission and cannot read your GPS position. Our advertising provider (Google AdMob) can, however, infer an approximate location — country or city level — from your IP address in order to choose which ads to show. We do not collect contacts, health data, or anything unrelated to plant identification.
Children
Bloomprint is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your rights
Because we do not hold a profile about you, there is normally nothing for us to export or delete — deleting the app removes everything we would have.
If you are in the EEA, the UK, or California and you believe we hold personal data about you, write to us at the address below and we will respond within the period required by the applicable law.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the updated date at the top will change and the new version will appear in the app.
